The Club

The Sea Scamp Syndicate was formed in 1984 and a since then has been efficiently run by a dedicated volunteer Commodore and Committee Officers.

Club members have the exciting opportunity to sail on sea Scamp at a friendly cost alongside experienced sailors. The trips are chosen by the committee and members and include week-end trips, long trips (1-2weeks), races and more relaxed trips. This provides great opportunities, whatever the kind of sailing you're interested in.

The club does not have formal sailing instructors but we help members become more proficient by setting aside training weekends and providing some training during cruises, following our Sea Scamp Training Manual.  We encourage members to do courses with sailing schools for the RYA qualifications and have our own club grading assessments and promotions.

Club members also have the opportunity to help out in Sea Scamp's maintenance and repairs during the winter. Invaluable knowledge on the refitting of wooden boats is passed down from member to member during refit days, which is both educational, and great fun! On top of it all, Sea Scamp refitters get a discounted price for every sailing trip they take the following summer! (see Cost)

Regular newsletters are sent out to members and we produce an annual journal with accounts and photos of sailing trips.

Additionally, the Sea Scamp Syndicate organises social events throughout the year for its members, because you just can't sail with everyone!
